Day 1 :
Leaving either of the coastal towns or Windhoek early morning, we head for Sesriem Campsite, arriving early afternoon, and set up camp. We go to a vantage point to view the sunset, and return for a barbeque.
We rise early and drive to Dune 45 to view the sunrise from the top of the dune. We then head to Sossusvlei, where we have a late breakfast. After breakfast we can climb yet another dune for a view of the area, or proceed to the parking area to Dead Vlei.
The walk to Dead Vlei is 1,1km. Along the route your guide will tell you more of the origin of Dead Vlei, the plants and animal life.
We have a light lunch in the shade of the trees at Dead Vlei parking. For the energetic, there is another 2,5km walk to Hidden Vlei. Sometimes Oryx Antelope and Springbok can be sighted here.
Afterwards we return to the camp to wait out the heat of the day at the swimming pool, or reading in the shade of the trees. Late afternoon we visit Sesriem Canyon and view the sunset from there.
All help will be needed to prepare a cooked dinner, and then a good night’s rest after a long, hard day.
